  1. Digital Program: The program includes the tournament rules, sketch of the fields, schedule, happy hour info, etc.  We are not printing these this year, so save it to your phone for easy access!    Note:  The only schedule change is that WFHA has taken BFHA's spot.

  2. Venue: The tournament will be held at Cape Henlopen High School, 1250 Kings Hwy, Lewes, DE 19958. Just 10 minutes north of Rehoboth Beach, DE.

  3. Format: This is an ADULT tournament, full field 11v11 on 2 artificial turf fields. 16 teams will be accepted. Participants must be at least 18 years old OR be a current high school senior (participant can be 17 years old in the case of a high school senior). Each team will play 6 games. All teams will play games on both Saturday and Sunday. Participants may only play on one team.

    This is a Mixed Tournament and a maximum of 2 male field players are allowed at one time, and the goalie is neutral and can be either gender. We will try to separate the ‘Women’s Only’ teams as much as possible, but cannot make guarantees.

    If separate Women’s/Mixed divisions are not possible due to team numbers, mixed teams will still be allowed to play with 2 male field players against teams with women only. Be advised that rules regarding penalty strokes/shoot outs may be adjusted to limit the number of male participants to 1 (which is consistent with the percent of men on the playing field).

    Just to highlight one rule change we have this year. The tournament will allow for 2 male field players per team, just like we have always done in the past. Goalie is neutral and can be either gender. We have decided to remove the rule we have done in the past where we only allowed 1 male field player if your opponent has no men on their roster. NOW teams can always play with 2 male field players, regardless of their opponents roster. This will alleviate some of the confusion we have had in the past, and will allow men a little more opportunity to play.

  4. Team Fee: $585 per team (by credit card using our online registration)

  5. Requirements: All participants must be USA Field Hockey members. Go to for membership. This is required for insurance purposes. A $10 temporary USAFH membership option should be available in April for those who are not year-round members.

  6. Registration: Teams must register online. Online registration will open on 1/27 at 12PM EST. REGISTRATION IS CLOSED.

    When registering online you will be asked to pay the entire tourney fee by credit card. Teams are accepted in the order of online registration. We anticipate filling within the first hour! Don’t miss the registration date & time!

    We are using a new online registration system this year, so I wanted to give everyone a heads up about it. BFHA now uses for online registration. To make registration easier for your team, I recommend signing up for a Sports Engine account in advance, as you will be asked to create an account to register.   7. Forfeit Fee: All teams must agree to pay a separate $125 forfeit fee IF (and only IF) your team forfeits any game during the tournament. This fee will be charged to your credit card on May 1, 2017 only if you forfeit any matches during the event.

  8. Cancellations: Any team that needs to cancel prior to February 13, 2017 must do so in writing to receive a refund from BFHA for $550 (which is the tournament fee minus the $35 online registration fee). No refunds will be granted if you cancel after February 13th. Please email cancellation requests to the contact name below. If you do not receive a reply email within 24 hours of your cancellation request, you must call 410-692-0811 to ensure that the request was received.

  9. Team Roster: DUE: April 3.

    1. When you arrive at the fields, the team captain MUST stop by the registration table prior to your first game to verify your roster and officially register.

    2. No roster changes are allowed once a team has played their first match.

    3. T-shirt sizes are not on the roster this year.

    4. Just like last year, we will require that all players individually complete an on-line waiver and USAFH membership number verification. Players will be required to complete this in order to participate and must do so by noon on April 27th. We will send a link out for that soon.

    5. If you don't have a USAFH membership, for Beach Bash, you can purchase a temporary membership.

      1. To review the process, athletes can simply CLICK HERE to be redirected to the 2017 BFHA Beach Bash page.

      2. From there, click the “Click Here” button under the event date range on the event page screen to be redirected to a shopping cart where you can purchase a temporary membership option for this event.

  10. Tourney T-shirts:A limited number of 2017 Beach Bash t-shirts are available for sale at the registration tent.  Get them while they last!  As always, we will also have throwback shirts available for deep discounts. 

  11. Waiver: ALL participants must sign the tourney waiver form. This is a USAFH requirement. Reminder, this is an ADULT tournament and participants must be 18. The ONLY EXCEPTION WILL BE ALLOWED FOR A HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR WHO HAS NOT YET TURNED 18. In that case, the PARENTS must also sign.

  12. Inclement Weather & Social Media: Yes, we still have a weather hotline (443-499-2342), but we are also posting weather updates on Facebook (BFHA Beach Bash) and even Twitter (@bfhabeachbash).  Feel free to share photos on our social media!  #bfhabeachbash

  13. Rules: (length of game, etc). This event will follow FIH rules, with slight modifications specific for the event. A full list of rules will be sent to all teams. See for details.

  14. Concessions: Due to the adult only version of the tournament this year, and the schedule where you are only at the fields for 1/2 a day, we will not have food concessions available.  Please plan accordingly!  Thanks for understanding.

  15. Athletic Trainer: We will have 2 athletic trainers available.

  16. Uniforms/Balls: Don't forget - Team listed first wears white shirts/shins guards.  Team listed second wears dark shirt/shins guards.   The first team must supply the game ball.

  17. Happy Hour: Join us for happy hour on Saturday evening at Conch Island Key West Bar and Grill on Rehoboth Ave under the Sandcastle Motel.  Happy hour at Conch Island runs from 4pm-7pm.  Stop by any time and see what team Heineken has planned for this year's theme!  All teams - feel free to join in on the themed fun!
